The Dragon in My Head

Opening image for the story
Zack loved stories, but storytime was a real struggle. He wiggled in his chair, tapped his feet, and even tried to climb the bookshelf once! His teacher, Ms. Lily, always smiled patiently, but Zack felt like he was missing out on the fun. One day, Ms. Lily read a story about a brave knight who fought a dragon. Zack started to fidget, but then he had an idea. He closed his eyes and imagined himself as the knight, his heart pounding as he faced the fire-breathing beast. He could feel the dragon's hot breath on his face and the clang of his sword against its scales. Suddenly, the story wasn't just words on a page anymore. It was a real adventure! Zack forgot all about wiggling and tapping. He was too busy fighting the dragon, dodging its fiery breath, and finally, with a mighty swing, defeating the beast! When Ms. Lily finished the story, Zack opened his eyes, feeling like he'd just lived through an epic battle. He realized that using his imagination made the story come alive. From then on, Zack made a new rule for himself: during storytime, he would close his eyes and imagine himself in the story. He became a pirate sailing the high seas, a princess in a magical castle, and even a talking animal in a jungle adventure. Storytime became Zack's favorite time of day. He learned that the best stories weren't just words on a page, but adventures waiting to be imagined. And sometimes, the most exciting adventures happened right inside his own head.
